Milani UltraFine Liquid Eyeliner | Review

Remember when I mentioned this product in my February & March Favourites? Well I’m finally getting around to my full review, yeah, it took I while, I’m sorry. This product was around $12BDS from #1 Beauty Supply.

Let’s start with the packaging and brush. This is very sleek and has a substantial length, so it’s not awkward to hold in your hand. The bush is also well weighted, so that you have good control when applying the product. The brush tip reminds me of the Coastal Scents liquid eyeliner, as it is a sturdy felt tip, and very easy to use, once you get the hang out it.

Be sure to shake this well before you use it, or you will end up with a very splotchy line. Once the formula is mixed, I was about to get very pigmented black lines drawn. The only downside is that the eyeliner has a shiny finish, hence the name Black vinyl. And that doesn’t look so fabulous on my already big eyes. There are other fun colours available in this range, but I just needed a black eyeliner at that time.

Although not a waterproof formula, if you were to wet it, it doesn’t bleed and create a mess. But it would roll away in pieces if rubbed. Making removal of this eyeliner very effortless. AND non-irritating :).

First swatch is just one pass of the brush. In the middle, you can see I hadn't shaken up the product well.

  • Affordable
  • Sturdy brush
  • Pigmented formula
  • Long lasting formula
  • Available in lots of fun colours
  • Easy to remove
  • Doesn’t bleed
  • Doesn't irritate my eyes

  • Not waterproof
  • Glossy finish

The Raw Sugar:

There’s not much more I could really say about this eyeliner, besides it’s good quality and has a long lasting, pigmented formula. Good for everyday use, however I’m not sure how well the brush would fare making very artistic or thin lines, as I never do either of those. I do really wish the finish wasn’t glossy.

Where to purchase:

Until next post...

Jolie Beauty lipstick - Imperial Purple | Review

Hey all! Jolie Beauty & Cosmetics is another Bajan beauty brand which came on the scene around 2012, rebranding themselves more recently to have a number of products other than lipstick. I must say, I was lusting after their lip colours for some time, as they looked gorgeous, but sad;y I just couldn’t access them at the time. More recently I came across the store which retails them (Blue Print), and now I know where to go whenever I want to purchase.

I also came across them at GFE 2014 and made sure to grab one of the colours I had my eye on for a while, Imperial purple which was $25BDS. As you can see this lipstick is not for the tame, it is definitely as vibrant on the lips as the bullet looks.

Packaging-wise, I was not a fan of the glossy paper sticker on the bullet, I thought it would look much sleeker without it or with silk printing on the tube rather, which is funny because I’m sure I saw this on some of the older packaging. Either way, it’s not horrible but it does knock down the luxurious look of the lipstick a notch. I  appreciate that there is a viewer window at the very top of the packaging and that the lipstick is clearly labelled at the bottom, stating it is one of the mega matte shades.

Imperial Purple has an interesting swirl of pearlescence running throughout the lipstick, and although it is very matte, the shimmer shows up, making for a very interesting purple colour.  I doesn’t take many coats to build this lipstick to full opacity, 2 or 3 for good measure. When they say matte, they were not joking either. This lipstick has absolutely no shine.

As with most mattes, this is DRY! I suggest moisturising your lips very well before applying this shade, or u will have a cracked, ugly mess. Don't expect this lipstick to budge for a good while either, unless of course you’re eating greasy food. I was very impressed by it’s staying power.

The Verdict:

  • Gorgeous full colour lipstick
  • Very matte
  • Long staying power
  • Can be toned down for daily wear
  • Affordable
  • Bajan product (woop)

  • Drying on the lips
  • Packaging looks cheap because of label
  • Availability (only found in Barbados)

The Raw Sugar:

I’m very happy with my purchase. I was able to wear this shade very lightly for less of a kapow, while still rocking purple lips, and I wasn’t stared at like a mad person. So that’s a good thing. I also mixed this with other lip colours to make very unique shades. Yet I can wear it full on vibrant and it just looks great! I just wish it wasn’t as drying.  I want to try the Allure lip gloss I’ve heard so much praise about and some other of their lipstick shades!

I’ve been at a crossroads...

Hi all, you may have realised I’ve been MIA for quite some time on my blog. Just about the longest time I’ve ever gone without writing you guys. Truth is, I’ve been stuck in a ruck…a lack of motivation to write. Although I have lots of new products to review for you guys and different looks I’ve been trying, I just wasn’t able to focus long enough to sit here and create a post I thought worthy of your eyes.

I’ve been going through a number of things here in my personal life since finishing uni. I had a lot of questions to be answered and ideas to ponder on. I wondered if the career goal I had set for myself was really fitting of me, how I would get a job in my country, if I had chose the wrong degree all along, how would things work out in the next 5 years, furthermore the next year. If I needed to go learn a more marketable skill, if I should go back to school right away, wait and stick to my current job? I wondered what else was out there for me to do and lots more. I’m not sure if this is the anxiety a lot of others feel when they’re finally finished university, but it came as a shock to me, because I was always one to plan and say I wanted to to this and that. Yet still when it was all done, I just was in wonder as I realised many of my experiences up to that point had altered my way of thinking and left my mind craving a more varied path.

This all sounds kind of crazy as I write it out, I mean studying for almost 4 years to attain a degree isn’t an easy task and I definitely am not saying I don’t appreciate my degree, but I am a little lost as to where to go next. I’ve luckily been holding down a part-time job, but I don’t feel like it’s my fit. I’m so scared of being like the countless others working in fields they despise, just for the dollar bill. But for now, I’m there and I’m trying to make the most of it. I am still as in love as ever with Chemistry, especially Food science, but in my on-going research in the many fields of Food Science (and jobs), I am still uncertain as to where to begin. Like this shouldn’t be happening now, I should know by now, right? I’ve even gone so far as to think about going into cosmetics chemistry as a career, seeing as I love cosmetics as well. But who knows, I just hope I get a sign very soon. Until then, I’ll keep doing my research on jobs, hoping and praying I come across some to apply to. (Sadly, it may be outside of my lovely Barbados.)

As for blogging, it’s been hard to write especially with all of these thoughts and anxiety riding my mind. I’m very sorry to have failed you lovely readers for almost 2 months. At the ending of March, I said to myself, this can no longer go on. I owe it to you and myself to keep up with this hobby. This is my relaxation and one of my loves. Writing is something I do to express myself, in ways I cannot in person and the fact that I can talk all over my face about makeup and not have to worry, makes me even happier. So stay tuned for the return to your previously scheduled programme folks. My love ones have been telling me to not let life stress me out, and you know what? They’re right! SO back to posting reviews, swatches, makeup looks, selfies and all the goodness that comes with blogging starts back now.

I hope you’re all still out there waiting for me. Welcome back to the Chrisamor Goodie Jar!

Beauty store Spoilage | Haul

Hey all! About two weekends ago, I had stopped in the beauty supply store (Diamond Girl), and I was in a bout of luck as they had just restocked everything, including MILANI!! Whenever I usually go in there, they're out of all the baked blushes, so I made sure I picked up a couple :D hehe. Also I got a new liquid liner to try out and I must say, I'm enjoying the brush on this one a lot more than the NYX one I have.

I bought some weaving thread for a project I'm putting together to show you guys, so look out for that soon.

I also picked up some makeup wipes from the beauty supply store, to try out. So far they're very soft, and work ok.
Finally, I picked a Jolie lipstick at the Girlfriend's expo, in the colour Imperial purple. I've been lusting after this colour for about a year now! Swatches coming on that soon.

Valentines day humour & Rewind Wednesday

Hey all! So I was contemplating what to post today, and I was at a total lost because for some reason I'm not all on the Valentines day train like last year. Despite having a bf, friends and family to share in the holiday with, I don't even have thoughts on it . This might have been the quietest V'day I have had yet.

But because it'd be boring if I didn't at least post something else about it, this Wednesday I'm flashing back to last year when I did the 10 Valentine's day questions. Funny enough most of my answers are the same. I guess I'm a simple & unchanging gal.

Then in my search for Valentine's day post ideas, I stumbled across these on the Fail Blog. Some were too hilarious not to share!

Finally the cutest, though not as sensible to me... as I'm a cat lover and all.

Are you feeling Valentine's day this year? Or are you a v'day hater?

Coastal Scents Blush Too Palette | Swatches

Hey all! another installment of my Coastal Scents  haul, yayyy! I bought a couple palettes, a brush set and some eye shadows. I've showed you the lip palette and the eye shadows in their pots, and today I'm going to be showing you another palette, the Blush Too.

I have the original blush palette by this brand, but I'm telling you now the colours in this one are more up the alley for darker-skintones. Despite the Original 10 Piece blush palette being pigmented, many of the colours were too light and ended up looking like a chalky mess on me. I love this newer one because the colours are richer, darker and more daring. Have you seen this orange and that purple blush? Not for the faint at heart. If you're just starting out in makeup, trust me and leave this out.  I'm glad I bought the original then, because had it been this palette, I'd look like a clown quite often.

Onto the swatches...
